Advice Regarding New Year's Resolutions

A majority of New Year's resolutions are abandoned within the first three months of the year. Research also shows that many of these resolutions are repeated by the same people year after year for about one decade, without ever achieving the desired result. Chances are, after reading those two previous sentences you are not exactly feeling encouraged and motivated to try one now. Despite those statistics, there is room for plenty of optimism that you can be successful. The caveat is that you will have to go about succeeding in several new, and some uncomfortable, ways.
One common reason people fail in reaching their goal(s) is the flawed thinking that you have to make big adjustments to your current routine to achieve the results you desire. In many cases just the opposite is true. Another fatal flaw in resolutions is that you set a time-line that is unrealistic, which virtually assures your failure before you even start. Just imagine how few parents would succeed if their goal were to have their newborn walking and talking by the time they are four months old? Now, if their goal had been to have their newborn walking and talking by the time they are two years old, chances are almost all of them would have been successful. In fact, in most cases the newborns with an appropriate goal like two years would have walked and talked sooner than the ones with an inappropriate goal like four months.
Starting a goal of changed behavior is generally the hardest step in the process. The more easily achievable the steps are at the start, the more confidence you will gain in your abilities, and the more you will eventually begin to want to take on.
The way our mind works (if we allow it to control us as most people do) is that it perceives any change as a threat. The bigger the change you are trying to make, the bigger effort that your brain will naturally expend to defeat you. When you try to make a drastic change, you send an alert to a part of your brain called the amygdala that you are under attack. The amygdala is where the fight or flight response lives and is one of the most primitive mechanisms in our brain. Its sole purpose is to protect our body from harm, so it only has two modes of operation: React and Overreact.
The last thing you need when you are undergoing change is more obstacles, and if you activate your amygdala you are likely fighting a losing battle. Let me give you a simple practical example. Let's say your goal is to lose "X" number of pounds this year. Now let's say you decide you want to do it as fast as you can. You decide that you are going to exercise more (which will likely increase your hunger) and cut out all but one meal a day to achieve your goal. This is clearly a large threat (to your amygdale) and will be seen as an attempt to starve your body to death.
Now let's say you want to lose the same amount of weight as in the previous example and you will be thrilled if you reach success at the end of the year.
If I were working with you we would start with about as small of steps as you could imagine. Let's say you already eat a lot of salad and I suggest you eat less salad with your meals. Most people when given this advice either order fewer salads or decide to leave a few bites on their plate whenever they eat salad. Both are much more difficult ways of following my advice than necessary. It's difficult for most people to avoid or leave food on their plates. So my advice initially would be to take a bite of salad with your fork and either give it to whom you are dining with or throw it away before you eat anything.
This serves several purposes including keeping your amygdala asleep. If you learn to keep your amygdala asleep your brain will be tricked into using the cerebral cortex, which loves challenges. So in essence if you try and make a big change your brain will automatically fight you because your amygdale is activated and is where fear lives inside of us. Conversely, if you keep it in the dark, you will be using your cerebral cortex, which will act like a friend helping you accomplish whatever challenges you put in front of it.
Our brains control us way more than we realize and unless you actively learn how to use your brain for your purposes, it will win every battle while making you think you are in control, and that all the decisions you are making are yours; they aren't! Our brain always invents reasons after the fact, that makes sense to us and we ignorantly buy into them without question. We put enormous value on how we feel, but how we feel is simply the outcome of how we process the thoughts in our head. Feelings and thoughts are not facts!
If you want to reach your goals this year, start adopting habits that put your brain in neutral and allow you to run the show for a change. It will be uncomfortable at first, but eventually you will look back and wonder how you ever lived the way you did before.
Now make it a happy New Year!

The Fastest Way to Lose Weight Is Not The Best Way to Lose Weight

Points to Ponder for your weight loss new year's resolutions. We were "naturally selected" for a very different lifestyle than we have today. Our sedentary lifestyles are only about the last 50 years - which is not even a notch on the evolutionary time line. Even if we think we are active because we run 3 times a week, or go to the gym 5 times a week - by evolutionary standards - that still does not meet the criteria of activity. Activity is a measure of circulation and oxygen consumption by the body, all day.
Here is what happens when we lose weight fast: first of all let's remember if we are talking losing weight - we are usually referring to a number on the scale - which is a poor measure of fat loss. The scale does not tell us if we lost fat, muscle, water or any other precious bodily resources. We need to hone our wish list to fat loss - in other words design our weight loss program around scientific methods of fat loss, and saving our muscle mass. And yes, it is both an art and science to lose fat and save muscle.
Our muscles are what keeps us lean and fit, over the long haul. The reason many people feel they gain weight uncontrollably as they age is because of a nasty fact of life called sarcopenia: that is the fancy scientific term for use it or lose it. If we don't nurture our muscle mass with proper nutrition and physical activity and exercise (please note I mention both physical activity and exercise - they are NOT the same), then we sacrifice our muscles and bones. Sarcopenia is NOT a doomed destiny - it is very possible to steer clear and keep our muscle tone and bone density- but fad gimmick diets, starvation, lose weight quick schemes all lead to the breakdown of muscle. Muscle is an absolute necessity for fat burning, staying fit, disease prevention, our immune function... our muscle mass is absolutely our BFF in life. Losing muscle mass is the sure way to gain weight and create metabolic disasters... which lead to further weight gain.
The other really important point to remember is the fat cell. Again believe it or not the fat cell just shrinking and not going away permanently was another Ace in the evolutionary winning hand of natural selection. Quick weight loss programs, due to metabolic and hormonal issues leave the fat cells looking to grow and multiply. This is another reason for the "yo yo" effect - known correctly as weight cycling - the fat cells at time of rapid weight loss are looking to fortify and multiply to protect against the perceived invasion of starvation.
So please, make those New Year's resolutions for fat loss, and this time please don't fall for gimmick diets (temporary) or gadgets that cost you money, and cost you more in frustration and deflation. Take a scientific approach. Unearth the saboteurs - they probably are NOT what you think they are - there is a science behind real fat loss.

Sick of Traditional Diets? 5 Benefits of Diet Meal Delivery

Fed up with traditional diets? Looking for an easier way to lose weight?
If so, then may want to consider using a diet meal delivery service. These services will prepare and cook weight loss meals for you and ship them directly to your home. All you have to do is heat and eat - and watch the weight come off!
Diet delivery services give you several key benefits over traditional diets. Here are 5 benefits you get by having your diet meals delivered:
#1 Better Chance of Weight Loss Success
In a recent study done by Brown University, people trying to lose weight by eating prepared meals lost an average of 31% more weight than those who made their own meals.
This makes sense - when all the work is done for you, it's easy to stick to the diet plan and lose weight!
#2 Save Time
The number one reason people give up on their diets is that they get too busy to cook and prepare special meals. They need something they can "grab and go".
That's where a diet delivery service can help - you'll have meals on hand at all times. Most meals can be heated up in the microwave in about 5 minutes - or in the oven in about 30 minutes.
So you'll have more time to spend with your family, at work or relaxing!
#3 No Deprivation - Feel Pampered!
Traditional diets are built on deprivation. You starve for weeks eating cardboard-tasting food, only to throw in the towel because you need a treat.
That's normal. We humans do not act well when we feel deprived. We need to feel pampered sometimes - especially when going through a stress like losing weight.
But when you find the right diet delivery service, you'll be eating delicious, sumptuous meals that make you feel pampered instead of deprived. This makes losing weight much more enjoyable!
#4 Save Money
While diet delivery used to be only for movie stars and power executives, nowadays plans are more affordable. Because they can order in bulk, many delivery services can prepare gourmet meals for a lot less than the rest of us could.
You can find plans that start from around $18 a day. That's less than many people spend on just 1 restaurant meal!
When you add up food costs, gas costs and the cost of your time to buy and prepare the food, many delivery services can actually save you money.
#5 Get Healthier and Have More Energy!
Eating healthy is tough today - there are so many preservatives, artificial sweeteners and other toxic ingredients in the foods we eat.
But many diet delivery services will make your meals fresh with no preservatives, artificial sweeteners or MSG. You can even find meals that cater to people with health issues too like diabetes-friendly or gluten-free plans.
So you're not only losing weight - you're getting healthier too. You'll feel better and have lots more energy when you're eating this way.
So those are 5 benefits of using a diet delivery service to lose weight. You have lots of options, but each one has pros and cons. To find the best fit for you, do your research before you buy and choose a service that meets your needs and budget!

4 Rules You Must Follow to Get Rid of Cellulite

Cellulite is that orange peel appearance of the skin caused by a poor blood circulation and the accumulation of fat, water and toxins. But, what causes cellulite? And how to get rid of cellulite?
This unsightly condition called cellulite is due to several factors:
- Inadequate food
- Lack of exercise
- Weight loss diets
- Hormonal disorders
- Constipation
- Diabetes
- Smoking
- The excess of alcohol
- Stress
- Insomnia
- Tight clothes
- Wearing high heels
Get rid of cellulite from your legs, thighs and bum with 4 simple rules
If you want to get rid of cellulite fast it is necessary to follow these 4 important rules.
1. You always have to start with a body detoxification, which is essential for treating cellulite. So, first adopt a slightly hypocaloric diet, but nutritionally balanced and rich in water, fruits, vegetables, moderate salt, keep it high in proteins, but stay away from fats, sweets, additives and artificial flavours.
2. Stress affects the hormonal balance, the appetite, the recreation and the body's capability to recover. It is a hidden cause of many diseases and cellulite is no exception. Respect the periods of rest. Sleep 7-8 hours in a well ventilated room, with no electrical appliances and no artificial light.
3. Hydration is essential for your skin's health. A small consumption of water makes toxins accumulate under the skin and leads to water retention and loss of elasticity. So, hydrate yourself with at least 2-3 litres of water each day and drink a glass of water before bed.
4. Do more physical exercises. The best natural way to stimulate and normalize the blood circulation are physical exercises (gymnastics), sports (any sport), fast walking, jogging, dancing, aerobics and massages (performed by a competent massage therapist).
A great way to remove cellulite fast is through anti cellulite massages combined with a therapeutic massage. Massage oils and aromatic substances have a beneficial effect on the skin and blood circulation when combined with an effective massage.
Your physical appearance is the first impression you give to others and your skin is perhaps the most important "coat" that you wear every day. Cellulite shouldn't match your outfit! Now you know what causes cellulite and how to remove it quickly. Do not let the cellulite ruin your vacation. Apply these 4 simple rules and remove cellulite from your life as fast as you can!
How will your life be, if you could start wearing shorts in weeks? If you take action NOW, you can go back to wearing a bikini at the beach in 2 weeks!

4 New Weight Loss Terms and What You Need To Know

I have spotted some new IMPORTANT stuff I wanted to share today.
I'm trying to remove the confusion which seems to surround the whole area of exercise and nutrition.
This has meant that I have spent a lot more time reading - researching books, scientific journals and the internet.
Every now and then I come across a new word or term which I have never seen before.
They all relate to your health and weight loss efforts.
If you can get your head around this lot then you will have a better idea of what you need to do to lose weight.
So in this article I will share with you 4 new terms relating to weight loss and health, which you will find useful.
1. Diabesity
This one has been popping up on my radar the longest out of this list.
This info relates to type II diabetes or diet controlled diabetes.
Diabesity is a term used to describe a certain type of combination of having diabetes and obesity, 2 for 1 as it were!
The good news is it reversible.
Diabesity can range from mild insulin sensitivity to full on diabetes.
Diabesity is caused mainly by:
Poor lifestyle
Bad diet
Lack of exercise
Environmental toxins
Insulin Resistance
This is the bit you need to understand to control your weight.
Insulin is the worst for people wanting to lose weight.
When you eat anything, your body releases insulin to convert your food to energy (glycogen).
When your diet is packed with sugar, refined carbs (pasta, bread, cereal) your body will slowly start to become resistant to the effects of insulin. Insulin resistance.
This is bad.
Insulin is a massive growth hormone, and makes you fat.
The higher your insulin level is the worse your insulin resistance is.
Insulin resistance can lead to premature ageing, cancer, heart disease and a lot more!
The good thing is that Diabesity was caused by your lifestyle it means it can be reversed by changing your lifestyle.
Firstly you should see your doctor and see what he suggests.
The usual advice is to eat less do more.
You then need to look at your nutritional habits and change them for the better by ditching the bad foods, sugary processed foods and switching them for natural, clean whole foods.
Also add more exercise to your life and keep some time free to relax and unwind and you should start to see the effects of Diabesity reverse.
2. Toxic Load
Your toxic load is the amount of "toxins" you are personally exposed to.
The amount you have coming into your body from all sources(Food, air and water), and the length of time you have been exposed to that level.
The higher your toxic load the larger the negative effect it will have on your body.
Our body is not designed to handle all of these toxins that life throws at us and it all adds up until we inevitably crash.
Hundreds of diseases are linked to toxins but the majority of people don't see the link and therefore do nothing about it.
You can't live 100% toxic free, it's impossible but you can do a lot to reduce your toxic load and improve your health.
How to reduce your toxic load:
Eat more organic food
Go on a detox
Switch to green cleaning products like vinegar and baking soda
Aim to drink filtered water
Install an air purifier at home
Aim to use glass instead of plastic containers to store food
3. Endocrine (Hormone) Disruptors
Endocrine disruptor is a term used to describe harmful chemicals which cause a variety of different problems in the endocrine (HORMONE) system - including birth defects, asthma, autism and ADD.
Any system in the body controlled by hormones, can be wrecked by hormone disruptors.
Man made toxic chemicals as you know cause a variety of damage and are found in everything from the air we breathe, the toiletries you use to the plastic containers we keep food in.
None of these harmful chemicals were in anyone's bodies 100 years ago but now they are everywhere.
I believe, an overload of these chemicals will literally destroy our body, it will lose its ability to fight off disease, think clearly and basically function properly.
The critical period of development for most organisms is between the transition from a fertilized egg, into a fully formed infant. As the cells begin to grow and differentiate, there are critical balances of hormones and protein changes that must occur. Therefore, a dose of disrupting chemicals may do substantial damage to a developing fetus (baby). The same dose may not significantly affect adult mothers. (Wiki)
4. Obesogens
Related and very similar to endocrine disruptors.
Obesogens are as the name suggests, are closely linked to obesity.
Obesogens are foreign chemical compounds which affect our metabolism.
The Obesogens disrupt normal development and balance of fat metabolism; this can sometimes leads to obesity as you struggle to maintain a healthy weight.
Obesogens wreak havoc in our body by causing an imbalance and affecting fat storage, they disrupt energy, appetite, change your metabolism and make you store FAT!
These can often enter the body through pharmaceutical drugs, which are meant to make you well, not sick.
Obesogens can make it difficult to lose weight and could be one of the reasons why many people who try hard, still struggle to lose weight.
These obesogens or toxins get stored in the liver and FAT CELLS.
The higher your levels of toxins the more difficult you will find it to lose weight.
Obesogens are found everywhere in life and people interact with them every day. You can find them in water bottles, microwavable popcorn, plastic toys, pesticides, kitchen pans and shower curtains!
To lower your obesogen exposure you need to try and avoid things such as:
Plastic containers
Air fresheners
Non stick pans
Pre packaged foods
Avoiding those plus eating as much organic foods as possible will dramatically lower your exposure to obesogens and unlock your ability to lose fat.
It has been suggested that early exposure to obesogens in a person's younger years will increase their chances of becoming obese when they are older. If a child is obese, the research says it's likely they will be obese adults.
So there we have the four fairly new terms, to keep you in the loop as it were.
I hope you have learnt something and have found this info useful.
Thanks for reading.
Take care,

Shed Pounds With 3 Simple Early-Morning Activities!

You don't have to wait to lose weight. It's possible to jump-start your diet with some simple, sound activities within an hour of waking up! As for the best thing about the following tips - they are pretty simple to execute each day.
Take a look at some simple ways to get rid of the weight in the morning!
3 Tips to Conquer Your Weight Loss Goals
Thanks to some quick and easy early-morning activities, you can shed pounds by doing a few things each morning:
  1. Drink Ice Cold Water: Try to drink at least a litre of ice cold water in the morning each day. Based on research from a Clinical Research Centre in Berlin, your metabolism increases by 30% when drinking 17 ounces of water within 10 minutes! The temperature of the water forces your body to raise metabolism in order to warm up the water you drink. Drinking water in the morning also improves nutrient absorption, new cell production, clear system, and a balanced lymph system, according to Brook Phillips on the Total Home Care Supplies blog.
  2. Perform A Quick Workout: You don't have to work out for 40 minutes. In a University of Pittsburgh study, women who had four 10-minute workouts had 30% greater weight loss than the group that had just a single 40-minute workout. This can be a great boost to your weight loss - as well as your metabolism (again!).
  3. Eat A Healthy Breakfast: Birerley Wright M.S., R.D., is quick to point out on the eatingwell.com website that dieters who eat breakfast are more successful, based on research. She offers some powerful foods that can shed pounds at breakfast time: raspberries, oatmeal, yogurt, peanut butter, and eggs. These can be excellent supplements to healthy cereal to promote weight loss and take care of your metabolism.
Consider how easily each of these tips could mesh with your morning. Try to make the short time it will take to eat a healthy breakfast, drink some ice cold water, and perform a quick workout. These can all make a big difference in not only your weight loss goals - but your metabolism, energy, and mood!
A Bonus Tip You Can Do in Your Sleep!
How can you really shed pounds in your sleep? The answer is a bit rhetorical, as it's found in simply getting enough sleep!
Research has demonstrated that sleep deprivation causes people to react strongly to high-calorie junk foods. Studies show that people eat more on the days when they've had less sleep, and that overall, people are more likely to be overweight when they don't receive enough sleep at night.
When people sleep less, the hormones that stimulate appetite increase - and those that regulate it drop.
Don't just stop with a healthy breakfast, ice cold water, and a quick workout in the morning. Find a health bedtime routine, go to bed and wake up at the same times each day, and focus on improving the sleep you receive each night. It is one of the best ways to shed pounds; and it's also one of the easiest ways to do so as well!

Child Obesity, the Dangers Involved and How It Can Be Managed

A lot of concern is raised over the increasing rate of obesity in children which is witnessed in the modern society. With the awareness conducted to sensitize people about the dangers that come with being obese persons are striving to maintain the ideal body weight. With the right knowledge adults are maintaining healthy lifestyle but the issue that has been a bother to many medical practitioners is that the children have also started to follow in the trend of adults as far as obesity is concerned.
There are various causes of obesity in children but the most common one is the lifestyle that are led by most people in modern society. This contributes to the reason why children are no longer active and they would prefer staying indoors and engage in activities that do not support high burning of calories. The condition has been enhanced with the availability of fast foods as well as processed foods which add little nutrients to the body. The resultant is calorie imbalance which translates to obesity in children. Lifestyle changes are advocated for if this problem is to be managed or dealt away with all together.
Causes of obesity are many and it is upon a parent or guardian to ensure that the children under their care are well taken care of to reduce the rates of obesity in children. The short term effects of obesity could seem manageable especially if the remedy is available instantly but the situation could change with time.
Children obesity can pose great danger to them as they grow up due to the medical implications that come with having that kind of weight. The medical challenges may not manifest immediately but as they grow up the risks increase unless adequate measures are taken at that tender age. Obese children are likely to suffer from cardio vascular diseases such as high blood pressure which can be a long term medical condition. High cholesterol levels can be dangerous to the heart and this can easily come with increase in body weight.
Pre-diabetes is the condition where a child shows signs of increase in blood sugar levels which can easily result into diabetes. Stigmatization and low self esteem are known to be common conditions experienced by those children who are overweight especially in the society where people are judged based on the standards that are considered right. Joints and bone problems in children also arise from the overweight issue. These are just but a few of the obesity causes that children are likely to face in their adult lives. Some of the effects of this condition can be severe and detrimental.
Conclusion
Children are at times unable to make the right decisions more so when left on their own to do what they want. It is therefore the responsibility of adults to ensure that they live a healthy lifestyle that will not expose them to suffering from weight related illnesses in their adolescent and adult lives.

3 Healthy Snack Ideas

OK lets face it, snacks are a part of life. We live very active lifestyles, so we tend to get hungry during the day, especially in between meals. Whether you are at work or at home, there is no escaping that urge to snack on something delicious. But snacks don't always have to be seen as unhealthy, in fact there are plenty of options when it comes to healthy snack ideas.
An apple with peanut butter for example is a great choice for a healthy snack. Apples are high in fiber, and peanut butter is an excellent source of protein and healthy unsaturated fats. It also delivers a small amount of potassium, magnesium, and Vitamin E. Simply slice up an apple into equal slices, spread on some peanut butter and enjoy. Even if you are not a huge fan of apples, the two combined offers up a whole new taste.
Another great example of a healthy between meal snack is trail mix. Trail mix offers a wide range of dried fruits, nuts, seeds, oats and even the occasional chocolate. The nuts and seeds off a great source of healthy fats (monosaturated and polyunsaturated) and are also a perfect way to add some protein to your diet. Fruits will provide a whole assortment of vitamins, minerals, and natural sugars. Oats are a great way to stay heart healthy because they are known for protecting the body against heart disease, and even offer up some fiber.
When it comes to healthy snack ideas, smoothies are one of those that always seem to top the charts. The choice of smoothie is entirely up to you, a green smoothies (vegetable) or fruit smoothies, but when it comes to taste nothing can compare to a fruit smoothie. Any assortment of fruits will do, it does not have to be an old fashion strawberry and banana smoothie. Be creative. Mixing and matching different fruits not only changes the taste of the smoothie, but it also exposes your body to a wider range of vitamins and minerals.
Eating healthy does not have to be a lot of work, and although sometimes convenience wins out when it comes to unhealthy eating habits, there are options. One tip that always helps is to take some time in the beginning of the week to prep your fruits and vegetables for easy access. This will help trump the convenience most unhealthy foods have over eating healthy.

8 Ways to Fight Menopausal Belly Fat

You're not over the hill yet, but the extra belly fat you've gained in the last few years is making it awfully tough to climb to the top. Even if you haven't gained pounds, your waist may be gaining inches. You've probably already heard it's better to be a "pear" than an "apple". Belly fat is a risk factor in Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Why is it so easy to gain weight in mid-life, so hard to lose it, and what can you do about it?
As we age, our metabolism naturally slows, due to several reasons. During menopause and post-menopause, lower estrogen levels can cause a decrease in your metabolism, as well as change where you store body fat. The extra weight may start settling around your stomach and abs, rather than your hips and thighs, where it used to hang out.
You may find that without realizing it, you have become less active and gained more stress. You suffer poor sleep on a regular basis, with insomnia and fatigue becoming constant companions. And your dietary habits have become even worse. As changes occur in your life and your body, you may be overwhelmed wondering how you could possibly add one more thing to your schedule. So self-care takes a back seat while belly fat is suddenly front and center.
If you want to see a change in your body, you have to bite the bullet and make a change in your behavior. It may not be easy, but it is doable. And you have control over most of it. Here are 8 ways to take care of yourself and give you the best chance to lose that menopause belly fat.
1. Become more active. It's easy to fall into sedentary habits when we have a lot on our minds and in our schedules. But making a point to walk more, take the stairs, and take breaks from the computer are small things you can do to burn a few extra calories. You may also find that you feel less stiffness when you are moving about regularly than when you sit for long periods of time. Sitting has been proven to be detrimental to your health, whether or not you do regular exercise. So move more.
2. Strength train. As you age, you lose muscle mass. This actually starts in your twenties, but you probably won't notice until you're in your fifties. Losing muscle slows down your metabolism since muscle uses more energy to maintain than fat. You will also find that you suddenly can't do some of the same things you could when you were younger. You should be doing some kind of resistance training at least twice a week.
3. Do regular cardio exercise. This is different from just becoming more active. The intention here is to get your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes five days a week. That's the bare minimum suggested by the government health experts to maintain your weight. If you're serious about losing weight and fat, you will need to either increase the time spent, up to an hour each session, or ratchet up the intensity. Doing intervals of higher intensity exercise interspersed with recovery, such as in a jog/walk session, is an excellent way to increase your metabolism.
4. Eat better and less. You don't need to go on a crazy fad diet to lose weight. You do need to clean all the junk out of it and eat 250 to 500 calories less each day to lose one half to one pound a week. It's a fact that an energy deficit will cause weight loss. It's easier to eat 500 calories less than it is to exercise 500 calories more. Of course, if you are doing both, it's even better. Keeping a food journal will show you exactly what you are eating as long as you stay honest in reporting it.
5. Stretch regularly. Although not a huge calorie burner, stretching tight muscles improves blood flow, joint mobility, and flexibility, making it easier to do the increased moving that will burn calories. Stretching can become a quiet time of contemplation or can be done on a mat in front of the television in the evening. The older you get, the more important it is.
6. Control stress. This is often easier said than done but is a good practice to get into. Everyone is different in how stress affects them and what helps alleviate it. Some suggestions would be to begin a meditation practice, get a massage, watch a good movie, spend some time alone, read a good book, or do anything you've been putting off but really want to enjoy. Your limit here is your imagination and creativity.
7. Get better sleep. This is also something that isn't entirely within your control, but developing some better bedtime habits can help. Keep the same schedule every night, don't eat heavy meals late in the evening, keep the room dark, and try a white noise generator. Regular exercise will also help, but make sure you do it early in the day. Exercising late in the afternoon or evening can disrupt your sleep.
8. See your doctor. If you're dealing with hot flashes, headaches, or other menopausal symptoms, you may want to ask about hormone replacement therapy, referral to a registered dietitian, or just get assurance from an expert that everything is okay with your health. This is a good time to discuss strategies for ongoing well-being as you enter this interesting and potentially liberating phase of your life.

The Anti-Diet For People Who Want To Lose Weight Without Eating Less

The bottom line for people who want to lose weight is making a commitment to yourself. Unfortunately, commitments to ourselves are the easiest ones to break! There is no magic pill, 70% of how you look and feel is based on what you eat. All you have to do is take inventory. How do you look and feel right now? If the answer isn't "great" then it's time to get back to simple basics and common sense.
Here's my secret behind the "anti-diet". Eat whole foods, control portion sizes, and track it! Diets are rarely successful long term, good habits last a lifetime. After trying every single type of diet out there, I became one of those people in analysis paralysis. One person's ideal diet seemed to be another person's worst nightmare. For every pro there was a con. Some books suggested to eat less, be a vegetarian, eat meat, eat raw, eat right for your particular body type, rotate it, weigh it, count it, and the list of what not to eat went on and on. I felt so much deprivation that I would live and die for "cheat days." There is no perfect diet for people who want to lose weight but there are healthy habits that can make a big difference. So let me save you the agony of defeat and distil this down for you.
First of all, eat whole food. In other words, if it comes from mother nature, eat it. Whole foods are as close to nature as you can get and are nutrient dense If it comes in a box, throw it away. Eat low on the glycemic index. You can find this list on line. In general, vegetables and beans are low, breads and starches are high. In your grocery store, colour is king, so load your shopping cart with colourful food from the produce section of the supermarket. This is where the majority of food you should be consuming comes from. Stick with sprouted whole grains, and, if possible, buy organic free range meat. When our cells receive nutrition delivered to our bodies through the micro-nutrients in food from mother nature, it sets a whole chain reaction of activity that helps stabilize our cravings, build our immune systems, aid in digestion, make us feel better, and give us energy. Processed food and pasteurized food is dead food. Your body needs live enzymes to function optimally! By the way, most vitamins and supplements are processed and are dead, this includes pasteurized organic juice and dairy. Save your money!
For people who want to lose weight eating five or six small meals a day will help manage portion control and hunger pangs. Pay attention! Your body can only process about 30 to 40 grams of protein every two and a half hours. This is about the size of your hand and the thickness of your palm. Likewise, your body can only process about 300 calories or 75 grams of carbs every one a half hours. That is about the size of a medium baked potato. What the body doesn't process, it stores as fat! When our body can't use something that has been consumed, it saves it for another day! It doesn't matter if it's lean, clean, low fat, or low carb - too much is too much and your body will store it! If you eat every three hours, you will never really allow yourself to get so hungry that a small portion of food won't satisfy you.
It takes 3500 calories to gain or lose one pound of fat. So, if you want to lose 1 pound of fat per week, you must reduce your intake or burn 500 calories per day. The only way to truly know how much you are consuming is to track it. Most people who want to lose weight underestimate the number of calories they consume per day, so using a good calorie tracker will raise your awareness.
Meal planning and preparation takes time and thought. Snacks should be around 200 calories each. These are really important to keep your blood sugar balanced and control your hunger. If you get in the habit of planning, this will get easier for you over time. There are tons of books you can buy on healthy snacks to give you a multitude of ideas.
Basically, for people who want to lose weight eat lean, clean, fresh, and every three hours! If you eat like a king for breakfast, a prince at lunch and a pauper at dinner, you will be on the right track to creating a permanent lifestyle change that takes the word diet out of your vocabulary!

Losing Weight Doesn't Have To Be Difficult

Do you struggle with weight loss? Have you tried countless ways of doing so that weren't effective? If so, I have a solution for you. I have been studying nutrition and fitness for years now, and I would like to give you a few tips that I believe can help you greatly.
Believe it or not, losing weight doesn't have to involve strenuous exercise, or extreme dieting. Actually, weight loss can be extremely simple if you make a few adjustments to what you eat, when you eat it, and how often you exercise.
The first tip I give my clients is to partake in some form of fasting. Fasting, or not eating for an extended period of time, is extremely good for the body because it allows it to clean and detoxify itself. This is an important part of weight loss.
To begin fasting, I recommend that you skip breakfast a few days a week. Contrary to popular belief, breakfast is not actually the most important meal of the day. By skipping breakfast, you allow your body extra time to digest the previous day's food. Your body needs an occasional rest from digestion. Fasting allows this, and you will experience higher energy levels by doing some form of it.
The next tip I will offer you is to cut out all drinks besides water. Juices and sodas are full of sugar and unnecessary calories. Drinking those types of beverages will only make your weight loss efforts that much more stressful. You can drastically reduce the amount of calories you take in, and thus lose more pounds each week by making this simple change.
Buy more fresh produce and learn new healthy recipes that you can try. If you find good tasting, healthy recipes, you will be far more likely to eat a healthier diet. I suggest you experiment with some until you find at least 7 that you like. Eat one of these meals with your family once per day. You may find that you begin to enjoy healthy food more and more as times goes by.
Do some form of exercise every day, even if it is something as simple as taking a walk. Humans were meant to walk. It is a great stress reliever also. I recommend listening to positive, inspiring music while you walk. Audio books are great for this too.
These are just a few basic tips for you to consider. I hope you begin to live the happy, healthy life that you deserve!

Lose Cellulite on Thighs Guaranteed in 6 Easy Steps

First, you need to understand that I speak about these 6 steps because I used them to get rid of my cellulite naturally in 2 months, and I am sure that if they worked for me, they might help you too.
So what are the actions needed to lose cellulite on thighs?
So here they are below:
1. Drink lots of water! You have to imagine cellulite tissues, as an accumulation of toxins and fats, and to eliminate those toxins, all women need to drink water and a lot of it. At least three litres of water each day. More if you exercise! there's no other way to lose cellulite on thighs fast!
2. Clean your liver of toxins! In order to burn fats, which gives the cellulite aspect to your skin, your liver must operate properly! The simplest way to cleanse it, is simply to drink 2-3 liters of water blended with natural lemon juice and several ingredients which detoxify your system. You can't have results if your liver is packed with toxins!
3. Eat foods and drinks that make your body burn fats. There are a good amount of foods and drinks that burn and dissolve the fat cells. These foods are raw vegetables and proteins, so make sure you have plenty of them in your diet! Stay away from sweets, cake, white bread, pasta, cookies, potatoes or sweetened beverages.
4. Take top quality supplements! There are a couple of supplements that reduce cellulite. Also, because most of the vegetables and fruits available at the market only contain 20% of the minerals they contained 2 decades ago, as a result of the newest way agriculture is done today, you will need supplements if you want to be sure your body gets enough vitamins: vitamin B, Ca, Mg and lots of antioxidants, specially carotenoids, since they make your skin elastic. In addition, you need a supplement that contains Omega 3, and the best source for this is Krill Oil.
5. Increase blood flow to cellulite areas. This may be simply done by coffee ground body wraps and to make them much more effective, ensure you do them daily, the first four weeks. Brushing also help.
6. There are plenty of other actions you can do, like eating only good quality or organic raw vegetables, exercise for at least 15 minutes daily or avoiding junk foods.
If you just implement these steps in your life, like most of my girlfriends did, you can lose cellulite on thighs in around 8 to 12 weeks.
